Three employees have been hired to fill out the new KASB Member Engagement Department.
Joining KASB will be Alec Madrigal, digital media specialist; Rachel Thomas, member engagement specialist and Leah Coons, member event specialist.
“We’re excited. I was very pleased with the quality of applicants we had in the pool,” said Dr. Brian Jordan, KASB Deputy Executive Director.
“They’re a great bunch of people; a real solid team,” said Austin Harris, the Director of Member Engagement.
After updating its strategic plan and a reorganization study, KASB tasked the new Member Engagement Department with connecting school board members with the many valuable programs and services offered by KASB. The department will also help provide clear and consistent messaging and branding to ensure KASB is the voice of public education.
Madrigal graduated from Kansas State University in December and has been an intern at KSNT-TV in Topeka. Madrigal will operate KASB’s studio and create video stories on the great things districts are doing.
Thomas, a 2017 graduate of the University of Kansas, comes to KASB from Lawrence USD 497 where she served as a communications specialist. Thomas will focus on social media and graphics and is especially interested in equity in education.
Coons, a graduate of Washburn University, has for the past two years worked as an account coordinator for MMGY Global, a Kansas City marketing agency. She will run the registration and coordination of KASB events.
Madrigal will start at KASB on Sept. 8; Thomas on Sept. 17 and Coons, Sept. 14.
