New guidance available to help students transition from high school to higher ed

A new guide is available to help K-12 leaders use federal COVID-19 relief to help students transition from high school to higher education.

The five-page guidance provides strategies aimed especially at assisting low-income and minority students. Here is a link to the guide from the Alliance for Excellent Education.

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, fall 2020 college enrollment dropped seven percent, with low-income high schools and high-minority high schools down 11 percent and 10 percent respectively.

Congress has provided nearly $180 billion for K-12 education to states and school districts through three relief packages. Part of these federal dollars are aimed at re-engaging high school students and ensuring they are on track to graduate.
