KASB members should make a note that the Governmental Relations Network has become the KASB Advocacy Network.
Local Board Presidents traditionally have appointed one or two of their colleagues to serve on the GRN to ensure their Boards are up to date on legislative issues and events. The KASB Advocacy Network (KAN) will continue to provide that information but will also give members the opportunity for specialized advocacy training and leadership development.
“The Advocacy Network helps KASB advocate for student success,” said KASB President Lori C. Blake. “In my 13 years as a Board member, I’ve seen the effect a single conversation with my legislator can have to change a vote. We need a trusted group of individuals willing to respond quickly as our KASB Advocacy Team shares experiences from local schools across Kansas.”
Board Presidents and Clerks should ask appointees to fill out the Advocacy Network application at this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KAN2021.
